In 2 Cor 12:9, The Lord says, “My grace is sufficient for you…”
Do you believe that? If your answer is yes, then do you live your life that way?
Now the context here, in 2 Cor 12, is Paul suffering some kind of affliction at the hand of the enemy. There’s plenty of debate as to what the affliction is, but that is not the topic of this post.
“My grace is sufficient for you” needs to be our mindset, our lifestyle as a Christian. And this is bigger than drawing on this truth in times of suffering and affliction. It is standing in this truth every day, in the midst of wants, desires, needs, and yes, suffering, affliction, etc… every aspect of our everyday life!
The grace of God IS enough. It is all you need when you have an eternity focus to your life. It isn’t about YOU! It isn’t about your best life here and now. It is coming to a full understanding that God’s grace in and on your life, is sufficient, enough, plenty, and more than you need.. to be strong, full of joy, full of love, loved, at peace, satisfied… NOT WANTING for ANYTHING more, is what being a Christian is ALL about.
Now that does not mean we don’t “want” for the “lost” of this world to come to know our Lord and Savior too… It should be our passion!! BUT, it should NOT be the fuel to our fire, His grace upon our lives is everything we need! His grace, His love, is ALL we need. In tough times, His grace is all we need. When you want that cool new thing.. His grace is ALL you need. Now does that mean you shouldn’t or can’t have that cool new thing? I am not saying that…BUT, it better be a tool or thing that you could take or leave, because you have ALL you truly NEED in Him. If there is anything more to that want, then it is an idol and it is time to get on your knees and discuss it with The Lord. Why? Because you are finding your happiness, peace, joy, strength, or whatever in something (or for some, even someone) other than in the love and grace He has already poured out into your life.
So The Lord is working on me with this universal truth… That HE, and the grace He has already given and shown me in my life, is ALL I truly need in this life! And He has provided me with abundant provision and love in this life, and knowing how amazing He is, I know my daddy will continue to pour out His love and grace into my life! That is His gift to me. Wanting more is selfish, “ME ME ME” focused. Being happy and content with the grace and love that He has already given me IS sufficient, is what brings peace, joy, contentment, rest… His grace is sufficient for me, and His grace IS sufficient for you too. Rest in your daddy’s love… Rest in your daddy’s grace on and in your life. It IS enough!!!!
